Bangalore: Brother Yogesh Varhade of Canada, who created a record of sorts at the UN Human Rights Commission’s Working Group on Indigenous Population, Geneva, says India’s Untouchables and Tribals have every hope of reaching the goal very soon. (DV Aug. 16, 1992, p.7: “Dalits are indigenous”.
The official representative of the India’s ruling class, which controls the Govt. of India, as usual blew the trumpet borrowed from the brahminical agent, Andre Bettille, the ruling class social scientist at Delhi University. That was expected. The rulers will do what they want to frustrate our plans. But are we doing what is expected of us?
No. Varhade says the biggst achievement this time is the support received from the Geneva-based World Council of Churches.
The indigenous SC/STs must however fight hard. To begin with they must set up the “Council of Dalit Nations” (CDN) and start working seriously, he says.
True history: CDN must be set up in every State with the following objectives:
(1) To re-establish the identity of Dalit “nations”, meaning indigenous peoples of India through all media communications.
(2) To represent their problems and find solutions at provincial, “national” and international levels through democratic means and help resolve them.
(3) To promote their heritage, history, culture, languages and humanhood.
(4) To build a research centre for the study of all indigenous peoples of India and publish the true history of these “nations”.
(5) To coordinate all the indigenous people’s brotherhood around the world.
