Bangalore: Biju Patnaik, the Kayasth CM of Orissa, is a well-known enemy of the SC/ST/BCs. Even being a Janata Dal leader, he continues to oppose V.P. Singh and the Mandal Commission.
Lately, he is trying to jump into Congress, the country’s original brahminical party. But the problem is orisssa’s brahminical forces and particularly the other Patnaik, a former CM, and Nandini Satpati, a Brahmin, are blocking his entry.
Just to please P.V. Narasimha Rao, Biju has started oppressing the Dalits more and more. Passing of the Orissa Reservation and Vacancies and Services Bill in the Assembly on Dec. 19 is one such step.
The anti-Dalit Bill says that henceforth there cannot be any exchange of reserved seats between the two scheduled communities. Patnaik thereby succeeded in driving a wedge ·between the Scheduled Castes and Tribals.
Previously, in the absence of candidates of one community, the posts left vacant were offered to the other. Most of the reserved posts went to SCs as tribals are most backward.
Patnaik gave vent to his animosity towards SCs while intervening in the debate on the Bill. He said “tribals were being exploited by SCs and were cornering government posts reserved for tribals”.
