New Delhi: The centenary celebrations of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, begun with a flourish by the Janata Dal govt. in April 1990 is being extended by a year and will extend to April 1993 because none of the grand schemes for upliftment of the SC/ST has taken off. The Congress Government feels it needs another year to truly honour the Father of our Constitution.
(The Rs. 130-crore budget earmarked by the V.P. Singh govt. which the present Planning Commission has slashed to Rs.10 crore. (Indian Express Dec. 23).
