Dr. Jamanadas views seems to me an unfortunate misinterpretation of Vipassana. It is only a way of concentration which doesn’t take away the “Spirit of revolt”. And Budha taught it to the common people of his day not only to the monks. That is only an inseparable part of Budhism, though not the whole. The person who joined BJP under the pretext of Vipassana might be having his own, unraveled reasons for his shift. If Goenka happens to be Bania by birth I don’t think that should be a reason enough to denounce the Vipassana or to ignore and excuse those Ambedkarite Budhists who shelter Hindu gods, celebrate Hindu festivals and perpetrate Manuwadi chauvinist ways (sexist and castiest) may be in their own ignorance. I don’t mean any offence, with my limited learning and age. But that is my humble opinion. (rokaderoopali@hotmail.com).
