Before the last elections, there was an agreement between Rajiv Gandhi and the IUML President, Ebrahim Sulaiman Sait, General Secretary Bana Twala and A.K.A. Abdul Samad, then MP, on two points and he promised to restore the status of all religious places in the country and maintain status quo with the cut-off date as on the Aug.15; 1947 and that provision would be made for reservation of Central govt. services for the Muslims. The promise has not been kept up.
