Yousaf Irfan, Lahore, Pakistan (yousafirfan61@ yahoo.com): It is sad to admit that the attacks on Pakistan will increase in coming days. I find no man to counter these subversive activities. The matter is quite confusing and complex. The govt. takes no practical steps to check or control the situation. The govt. and the public know very well the people behind these killings and blasts. They cannot be stopped because the govt. itself is behind these culprits. The govt. is protecting them. Three weeks back, four American commandos of Black Water in Afghan robe, were caught by the police having pictures of ISI headquarter at Islamabad. Within an hour they were ordered to be released by Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik. The same thing about the blast in Moon Market, Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore. The culprits are caught red handed but they are set free. Presently the civil, military and political hierarchy of Pakistan have duel nationalities. Their sons and daughters live abroad and the bank balance is also in the West. It is all due to the wrong and treacherous decisions Gen. Mushraf took to help the invading Americans in Afghanistan. Now Pakistan and US are together killing the Afghan and Tribal natives. The situation in Pakistan is very bad. Indo- Israeli and American hands are settled on the Pak- Afghan border i.e. Durand Line. Pakistan is on the verge of a bloody revolution and that revolution will be anti-American and anti-India in nature. Pakistan cannot survive if it remains part of Indo-American- Jewish forces. Pakistan is an ideology and ideology cannot be demolished by guns. Pakistan has deviated from the Islamic ideology. Pakistan is destined to survive and it will get better Pakistani nationalist rulers very soon. No Muslim in the region can think that such a blessed Muslim state can be wiped out from the map of the world. The divine will is with Pakistan. Pakistan defeated Russia. It is still capable of defeating Brahminists and America in the region. Only the will and determination of Gen. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq is needed. Pakistan is so important that all evil forces of the world have united to destroy it. Obama named Pakistan 30 times in his speech on Afghanistan. The situation will improve only after bloody revolution and that is not far away.
It took such a long time for you to discover the hands of the Jews and “Jews of India” behind your current blood-letting. We too in India are victims of the same twin forces who are enemies of humanity. You are right in admitting that Pakistan strayed from the path of Islam. There are lots of sincere supporters of your cause in India but you are not interested in supporting them. Brahminism is killing India and all its neighbours but no effort is being made by Pakistan even to identify those victims (mustadafeen) let alone strengthen or uniting them. Your Institution has the mandate to take up such a challenging responsibility – EDITOR.
Alan Billups, USA, (alotus@worldnet.att.net): 1 have sent a packet of literature in which included some information from Dr. Delbert Blair which is specific to your situation. DVD/CD/audio the Blackman and woman, the pinnacle gland. Dr. Jewell Pookrum also speaks about the function of melanin which gives you a higher potential spiritual ability. Please review my book and then CD/DVD which will show you the solutions to all your problems and can primarily be solved within each one of you and then as a collective.
Budha himself was finished and his thoughts banished from India over 2,500 years ago. How can we revive it today when not only the Brahminical enemy has joined hands with its zionist brothers, captured govt, power, media power, all the resources and reduced the Black Untouchables of India (30%) as their unpaid slaves? Even the Budhism revived by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Father of India, has been swallowed by the Enemy. How to propagate and publicise your valuable material when we have no media of our own except our feeble Voice – Dallt Voice – EDITOR.
Sudhir, 19308-Tomlee Avenue, Torrance-90503, USA: I have been reading Dalit Voice on and off over the years from afar as I live in the USA now. My summarized view on this journal is that while it does serve a certain population well and I am sure that some of the facts are true, the overall tone of the journal is so negative, antogonistic and bitter that after reading one I am so put off that I do not read another one for some time. The next time I read it I am hoping that the tone is more constructive and it is not. I am therefore writing this with the hope that in future the editorials are more constructive with examples of some outrageous behaviour by the hated Brahmin community along with incidents of good behaviour by the same community. This would give Brahmins and other upper castes who may be reading this to emulate the good and not bad. I am living in the US for a long time and I have seen the US undergo a transformation over the years, which is by no means complete. The real trigger for this transformation has been a positive and can do attitude by both the Whites and Blacks. I therefore have a vain hope that the next time I read DV I am both enlightened with good news and make a commitment to help those who have unjustly suffered persecution simply based on where they were born. A little bit about me. I was born into a very progressive Chitpavan family and raised by parents who rejected all Brahmin traditions, everything from idol worship to accepting caste distinctions. They raised us to believe that all men/ women are born equal. In the face of stiff opposition from grandparents they enrolled us in Christian schools and encouraged us to attend church/mass. My mother also taught in a Christian school were she would eat with Christian and other Hindu castes much to the horror of the other Brahmin teachers. We were taught not to critisize anybody’s food or eating habits and encouraged to partake and share with anybody elses food be it meat or not. Even though I do not live in India anymore I do visit every year as I sponsor three schools in remote areas for tribals. What I do find now on my visits is the shift to were a lot of the senior officers in the Govt., banks etc. are SC/ST/Backward Classes. I make it a point to talk to them on how they now see themselves and how their children behave. My conclusion from these talks is that they now see themselves as the new Brahmins and refuse to let their children marry someone even from their own community and encourage them to marry outside. When I asked them why, their reply generally was that they now are the educated/privileged class and do not want their children to marry below their status. I told them that they were behaving like the old Brahmins and their reply was they saw nothing wrong with that and that they would like their children to marry only those with education, money and influence. This may not be true for everyone but it certainly is the majority trend and thereby a new class of Brahmins is being born in India. The old Brahmins could survive for a long time as change in India came slowly. However the new class of Brahmins will manifest much more rapidly as the world is changing at such a rapid pace as never before in history. (sfd19@yahoo.com)
We like you because you are an “honest Brahmin”. However, there are lots of contradictions which needs to be answered separately because these are the doubts and fears that naturally come to an “honest Brahmin”. The situation in India is too serious. complicated. too too confusing. The very fact that India is fast going downhill in the United Nations human index is because of this. Ours is a 30-year old journal the country’s leading voice of the oppressed constituting over 85% of the population. I am the author of over 100 books. You live in far off US but we live in this dung heap – unable to breath free – EDITOR.
Dr. Awatar Singh Sekhon, 8507, 174 St. NW, Edmonton AB, T5T 288, Canada: The editor of the Rozana Spokesman, Punjabi (www.rozanaspok esman), Chandigarh, has been losing credibility. A front page ad. published recently relates to Prakash Singh Badal. The advertisement is false. Where was Badal in the last 25 years or since “Operation Bluestar” (June 1984) which was in fact an undeclared Brahminical war on the Sikh nation. Badal was a party to the “Operation Bluestar” of June 1984 and a collaborator with the RAW. The p.1 advt. reminds me the words of Winston Churchil: “The news media people are like prostitutes”. They sell their very soul for money. Master Tara Singh was a stooge of Nehru and M.Κ. Gandhi etc. The latter is known for the genocide of the Zulu Tribe of Africa, well known for sleeping naked with his own nieces and other women. The Sikhs have been robbed of their Sikh nation on Aug. 15, 1947 and Gandhi and their Brahmin-Baniya clique were deliberately made a landless nation. The Sikh elected representatives have rejected the Indian constitution, in its draft and final form. None of the Sikhs elected representatives has signed/accepted the Indian constitution 1950. The Sikh elected members were Hukam Singh, Bhupinder Singh Mann and Kapur Singh, ICS, MP.
Omar Khalidi, Aga Khan Programme for Islamic Architecture, Massachusetts Inst. of Tech., Cambridge, MA-02139, USA: We are your great admirers and have been reading Dalit Voice since long time. More power to you. (okhalidi@mit.edu).
What do you mean by “you are our great admirers”? India is in very bad shape. The entire media is in the hands of the enemy which is spitting fire against Muslims and instigating clashes converting India into a battlefield. When you are holding such important position in USA, It is not enough if you simply “admire” us. You must do something to save this country. the home for the world’s single largest Muslim population – EDITOR.
Terrill S. Wyche, Laurel, USA (twyche6@aol.com): Ever since I read V.T. Rajshekar’s book, Dalit -The Black Untouchables of India, (Clarity Press, USA) I have been looking to meet brothers and sisters here in the United States who share the same views as those of V.T. Rajshekar. I am of the same mind as Rajshekar and I am enthusiastic to meet brothers and sisters who want to see a world free of racist caste system (racism).
Jason Matthews, California, US (kinmut@yahoo. com): I was curious to know if the Dalits or the Dravidians you refer to them as “Black Dalits”, I wanted to know do you mean Black as in African Black and they are the same race as Africans and are a part of the African diaspora? Also, is this story of them being Black in the oral traditions or culture of the Dalits?
India has the world’s largest number of Blacks outside Africa and that they are kept as Untouchable, unseeable and even unthinkable by the Brahminical (2%) rulers of India. That is how India has become the world’s founding father of racism. Our book, Dallt – The Black Untouchables of India (Clarity Press, Atlanta. USA, 2003, US$ 9.95) will tell you all. Africans and Dalits belong to the same race. We are the original inhabitants of India. The US Blacks also came from Africa. But the Aryan Whites have kept us enslaved, India is ruled by Its 2% Aryan (White) racists – EDITOR.
Anwar Haque, Islamabad (haque8888@gmail. com): The Israeli-Brahminical forces are attacking Pakistan daily. The entire drama is created for several reasons and objectives:
1) To create confusion and uncertainty among common people.
2) Lower the morale of the people.
3) Defame Islam and Muslims.
4) Create conditions for possible future attack of India on Pakistan.
5) Create a justification for an attack on nuclear installations of Pakistan.
6) Block the support for the forces fighting against Kuffar control of Afghanistan.
7) To Keep heroin supply intact for the entire benefit of Zionist drug mafia.
It has implanted several Qadyanis and other agents in several key positions of Pakistan. There is strong resentment among people. The people are not stupid as they understand very well the motives behind all these attacks.
Israeli-Brahminical attack has some truth. We too are having such fears for a long time. The Jews and the “Jews of India” will do whatever it is in their interest but are its victims doing? During our two interactions at Lahore University (both this year and last) we found them a poor stuff, India has more Muslims than Pakistan. In fact we have the world’s largest Muslim concentration. But this community, which once ruled India for 800 years, is today totally silenced and suppressed. Pathetic. India is fast going downhill because of the Brahminical polson. But Muslims, the worst victim of Brahminism, are Intellectually crushed mercilessly. Untouchables are pushed to slums – EDITOR.
Anthony Elmore, USA: In the book, Anacalypsis, Godfrey Higgins shows clearly that the teachings of Abraham (the name Abraham means “A Brahmin”) and over time the name became Abraham. Higgins writes how Budhism was once all over the world. But the age of ignorance came with Brahmin teachings and spread all over the world. The root of Christianity and Judaism is Brahmin teachings and when these teachings became prevalent over the world, the world got screwed up. The pain of allowing such things to happen is a human suffering that is too unbearable. When I looked at what has happened in India to the Black people and I review the Budhist teachings we can understand. We can correct what has happened by bringing the correct teachings back to India. The true Budhists are the “Black Budhist” and to show the real power of Budhism we must bring “True Budhism back to India. This Budhism is the Budhism of Nichiren Daishonin but it will come not in the form as we see in Japan today. It will be us, the Black people in America, who will bring you this Budhism.
You are right on Abraham. From this came the name Brahmin. You have defended our theory that the Jews and the Brahmins are blood brothers. However, you seem to have made light of tackling our Brahminical oppressors. They tackled the Sakyamuni himself and perhaps even killed him. Then drove out Budhism out of India. Ever since then. Brahmins have been ruling India-only by exercising mind control on us. Since “Independence” (1947), their mind control is 150%. This is because of their total hold on the media. If we have to make a dent (not defeat) then, It is possible only by having our own media. But we are paupers. To bring about any revolution, the slaves must first realise they are slaves. Dalits have the pain and suffering but they don’t know who Is sucking their blood. Dalit Volce is doing this job. It is a drop in this Brahmin ocean – EDITOR.
Balwant Singh Bohoru, B-257, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar 143 001: I considered DV as a spokesman of Dalits and minorities. But I have observed that it misguides Dalits an creating rift between Sikhs and a section of Ravidasia clan. Now these misguided people, instead of being a follower of Guru Granth, they became followers of Brahminical rites.
Aravind Mulimani, (aravindmulimani@gmail. com): I am reader in Geography in Karnataka University, Dharwad, working since 1990. I am a regular reader of DV. I have DV back volumes and purchased your books. It is true that our intellectual force is not contributing to the society. The reason is probably they have not properly read the Ambedkar literature or they have no mind to read. They have not understood about their existence in Indian society. They are only leading the life under the banner of reservation. It is very difficult to transform their path until they realise themselves.
Purushottam Dhutraj, (purushottam.dhutraj@ya hoo. com): I have started reading your books. They are very revolutionary. I have never read such books after Babasaheb and Mahatma Phule.
All good things-whether reading or eating- must be shared with soul-mates. Please introduce our literature to friends – EDITOR.
Dalip Singh Pandhi, Chandigarh (dspandhi@redi ffmail.com): Our caste is a name invented by persons bent upon exploiting us. We are the original Indians and fought against the Aryan raiders. In Punjab, we are Chamars. I am proud of my caste. The Harijan word created by M.K. Gandhi, a Hindu Baniya. When you use the word Dalit, which is not a constitutional term, that will deprive us of all the constitutional benefits. The Chamars have the best of wisdom and character and our forefathers remained kings of the land. The reservation for the SCs for entry into higher services was approved in 1949 by the Central Govt. But this was not implemented. There was no legislation for the implementation of the reservations but only instructions which were not mandatory. We are about 17% of the population including ST in India and in Punjab we are about 28%. In Punjab, some got converted to Sikhism, Adharmi and Mahashas and our identity got shattered. Our caste got divided and became puppets in the hands of upper castes. Babasaheb Ambedkar got frustrated and became a Budhist. Gandhi fooled the poor people and became the Bapu though he could not satisfy the presiding officer of a court when he was a lawyer in South Africa and returned to India as a failure. The partition of India caused big migration with murders, loots of property and molestation of the Hindu and Sikh girls. I am first a Chamar and then a political leader. I was four times legislator and remained Minister for Scheduled Castes and BCs and belong to the Shiromani Akali Dal as political adviser. The Sikhs are basically sentimental, illiterate and cannot understand the tricks of the Brahminical system.
Siva Nagaiah Bolleddu, Research Scholar on Dalit Lit., 7-120, Thumuluru, Kollipara Mandal, Guntur dt.-522 304: It gives me immense pleasure to know about an exclusive Dalit magazine that speaks on Dalit issues. Really, it helps the scholars and social thinkers who intend to view India through the eyes of caste after/before nation. I would like to be guided further. I want to be your special correspondent in Vijayawada, one of the largest areas in AP where Dalits are educated but still in the hands of caste suppression. The coastal area of AP is known for its strong Dalit movements since 1920s. Adi Andhra movement, Karamchedu and Tsunder movements are the major milestones in the history of AP. My qualification is my Dalit identity and experience as a scholar of Dalit literature.
Dallt Voice is 30 years old and you came to know of us only now. That only proves how the ruling Brahminists are not allowing any fresh air to reach our people. Please become DV subscriber and order full set of our books and give it a serious study. Only honest intellectuals like Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar can transform this country – EDITOR.
Dalip Singh Wasan, Advocate, 101-C, Vikas Colony, Patiala-147 003: The Dalits must note that there shall be no merger and they shall never become part of the Hindu society. The time for merger of all religions and groups has not come. Rather all of them must establish their separate identity. Dalits must see that the Hindus do not swallow them. The only source left for them is to rise politically. Hindus are only 15% and the rest are Sikhs, Muslims, Christians and the Dalits. If these four groups want to counter the Hindus, their oppressors, they must join hands politically and easily come to power in all the states and even at the Centre. All the four may remain a separate groups but must have joint political front.
Com. Ayyankali: The 83-year-old Sharad Patil resigned from the CPM in 1978 after rebelling against its casteism and formed his Satyashodhak Communist Party (based in Dhule, Maharashtra). The ideology of his party is Phule-Ambedkar- Marxism. He has written several volumes on caste- class struggle. He also knows Sanskrit and happens to be an indologist. All the savarna marxists hate him and fear him due to this. However, he is not inclined towards caste war like you. His solutions are also based on non-revolutionary methods of inter- caste marriage. He has not grasped your “caste identity” theory (caste war theory). But his analysis of the caste society can be useful for us. However, he wants to ban marriage within the same caste. Sharad Patil is honest in analysing casteism. M.S. Jayaprakash must write more often and totally expose the Aryan Brahminist manuwadi fake marxists led by EMS. As far as I am concerted your “caste identity” and “caste war” theories are the gold standard of genuine revolutionary politics in India. Any theory will have to be better than your “caste identity” and caste war-only then I will even bother to look at it. What is the difference between Mayawati and Sharad Patil? Mayawati has abandoned caste struggle and Sharad Patil wants inter-caste marriage. With such kind of class collaboration, how can any revolution happen? So I cannot agree with Sharad Patil. But since he is more honest about caste factor, I merely wish to study his theories so that we can draw the right conclusions for our own good.
M. Palaniappan, Lecturer in Planning, Dept. of Urban Planning, School of Planning & Architecture, 4, Block-B, Ring Road, Indraprastha Estate, New Delhi-110 002: SCs and BCs should come together and have to fight collectively against the evils. But it is so sad to note that our people are fighting with each other in the name of caste. We are the same people and original people of this land. I have been facing problems in my institute ever since I joined as lecturer on July 29, 1992. Still I have been working as a lecturer. It is very funny. My institute has refused to promote me. My institute follows different rules. And am approaching 50 years of age I have decided to write to the Govt. of India about the injustice. I belong to Sathyamangalam (TN) area.
Siddhartha Kamble (siddhartha_kamble@yahoo. com): I have been a regular reader of DV over the past 10 years, first up to 2005 when at Ankleshwar and in Assam (2006-2009) and of internet edition of DV. You may not remember me. When you had come to Bharuch (Gujarat) I was with Brother Haridas with whom you were having constant communication. We organised a life-member drive from Ankleshwar (Gujarat). There are many like me who are and will always spread the eye-openers which you provide us through DV to the oppressed Indians. The Brahminical forces are in operation since thousands of years making us their mental slaves. It is a tragedy that as Babasaheb rightly said our people have started enjoying their slavery. To change the mindset, and mainly the “fear of god” which is being exploited by the Brahmins, it is going to take some time. The problem is our educated brothers are busy pleasing their Brahminical masters to get some petty things at the expense of social emancipation of our people. I am in Bombay and through an Ambedkarite centre, Tahthagat Culture Centre, we are trying to fight Brahminical samskaras and initiate the Navayana of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
V. Dhanapal, (danapalv@yahoo.com): I have almost finished reading all the 11 issues of Dalit Voice. My way of seeing our society matches exactly with your way of seeing it. Besides, I have found so many new eye-openers in your writings. But I don’t grasp the logic behind equating (all the time) the Jews with the Brahmins. Jews in their diaspora had well-knit international network of communities which served them well to be bankers, traders, merchants etc. Due to this advantage they might have made lot of profits. But they did not have the control on the society as the Brahmins had. They did not create a social order as the latter group did. They had been victims of pogroms, etc. They might have been closely related to Brahmins biologically few thousands years ago. For that matter, if you go back few million years, all the people (Dravidians, Aryans etc.) of earth share common ancestors. For India of this century and future, what is the use of equating Brahmins with Jews? May be the answer lies in one of your books. That is why I am eagerly waiting for your complete set of books.
You are new to our “Jews and Jews of India” theory. All that you said in defence of Jews has no basis in history. We have lots of literature written by Western scholars on this subject Including the world famous Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motors. That the Jews were the victims of pogroms was also what we believed until we searched for the Truth. Truth is never served on a silver plate. You have to go in search of Truth. Budha found the Truth after many yeas of contemplation. I found the Truth after 30 years of search-EDITOR.
Dharmanand Meshram, c/o R.M. Gedam, Sarvodaya Ward no.6, Nr. Co-op Rice Mill, Gadchiroli 442 605: I was remembered of the shock we suffered two years ago on seeing the announcement of closing down Dalit Voice. A noted Marathi monthly, Sugava (Pune), has also announced about closing down. Bahujans have no media. Even in this critical situation the existing publications are thinking of closing down. Where should we go for enlightenment?
The ruling class has systematically killed the reading habit among the youth so that their time and energy are diverted to enhance the rulers’ Interests: pursuit of property, entertainment and allied things. The rulers have asked the slaves to leave the thinking part of the job to them. Our people have obeyed the orders and getting into more and still more serious problems. And almost reached the dead end. And yet not realising their mistake. Who can save such fellows? – EDITOR.
Baldev Singh, A-32, Sector- 50, Noida 201 301: It was nice meeting you in Delhi in November. We talked frankly. The task you have taken up is gigantic and centuries old, yet you are struggling without any personal gain. You are indeed a missionary. Master Tara Singh who had links with RSS and the support of the Hindu Mahasabha leader, Madan Mohan Malavia, and also the Congress, organised attacks on Muslims to force them to vacate East Punjab. M.A. Jinnah offered the Sikhs some attractive proposals but Master Tara Singh rejected them. I have quoted some passages from the Freedom at Midnight, an authentic work:-
Master Tara Singh mischief
The Sikh leadership had met at a secret council in Nedou’s Hotel in Lahore. Its purpose was to decide Sikh strategy in case partition was accepted. The dominant voice at the council was that of the hot- eyed fanatic who had started the March conflagration by hacking down a Moselm League banner with his kirpan. Tara Singh, called “Master” by his followers because he was a third-grade school teacher, had lost many members of his own family in the violence he had provoked, and one passion motivated him now, revenge.
“O Sikhs”, he had shouted in a speech that foretold too well the tragedy soon to overtake the Punjab, “be ready for self-destruction like the Japanese and Nazis. Our lands are about to be overrun, our women dishonored. Arise and once more destroy the Mogul invader. Our motherland is calling for blood. We shall slake her thirst with our blood and the blood of our enemies.” (p.230-231).
RSS joins Sikhs
A group of Sikh extremists, Savage reported, had linked hands with the most fanatical political group in India, the RSS. At their head stood Master Tara Singh, the third-grade school teacher who had called on his followers to drench India in blood at the Sikhs’ secret convocation in Lahore. The two groups had agreed to pool their resources and energies in a pair of terrorist actions.
The Sikhs, with their better organization, training and knowledge of explosives, would destroy the heavily guarded “Pakistan Specials”, the trains destined to convoy from Delhi to Karachi the key men and stores assigned to the new state. Tara Singh had already installed a wireless set and an operator to flash information on the train’s departure and its route to the Sikh armed bands that were to attack them.
…No Sikh or Hindu police would accept an order to go in after them, and to send in Moslem police was unthinkable. (p. 246).
Pak train destroyed
Five days later, during the night of August 11 to 12, the Sikhs of Tara Singh successfully executed the first phase of the program they had agreed to with the RSS. Two charges of gelignite buried along its right of way destroyed the first l’akistan special five miles east of the Giddarbaha railroad station in the Ferozepore District of the Punjab (p.47).
Khushwant Singh shows a Dalit is more sincere to the Guru than others who burnt his thatched hut to cremate Guru’s body:
Jinnah & the Sikhs
Jinnah told them (the Sikh leaders) that if they opted for Pakistan he would guarantee them protection of life, property, freedom to practice their religion and the privileges they had enjoyed under British rule.
When M.A. Jinnah failed with Akali/Sikh leaders he tried his efforts with Maharaja of Patiala, Yadvindera Singh.
“Jinnah met the Maharaja of Patiala and his Prime Minister, H.S. Malik, ICS, in the house of Malik’s elder brother Sir T.S. Malik, in New Delhi” (for details see chapter xviii of A History of the Sikh People, Dr. Gopal Singh. (A History of the Sikhs, Vol.II, Khushwant Singh).
Note: Muslim League always referred to the Congress as Hindu Congress but Master Tara Singh himself was Hindu (Nanak Chand Malhotra). So he deliberately ignored this warning. The position of Master Tara Singh was so strong and dominant at that time, that no Akali/Sikh leader could dare defy him. That is why he sided/opted for Hindu Congress/ India.
Ashok Yadav, Patna: We observed the death anniversary of Babsaheb Ambedkar and denounced the demolition of Babri Masjid on Dec.6 (2009). It is a strange coincidence that both the events came on the same date. The All-India United Muslim Morcha organised a seminar, “Dalit Muslims: Problems & solutions”. It was brought out clearly at the seminar that the Babri mosque was demolished on the day of the death anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar. The Hindu caste system had its worst critic in Dr. Ambedkar. To erase the memory of Dr. Ambedkar, and to put in place a hindutva symbol in the form of demolition of Babri mosque in parallel to Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy, to pollute and defile the memory of Dr. Ambedkar on Dec. 6 every year, the choice of date for demolition was made. The seminar did not confine itself to this coincidence. It discussed the demolition of yet another mosque in Rampur- Bairiyya village, East Champaran dt. of Bihar on Dec.6, 2007. This mosque was demolished not by the Brahminical forces but by the upper caste Muslims of the village who hate their Pasmanda (lower caste Muslim) brothers who had built a separate mosque because they were being discriminated in the common mosque of the village. One speaker said the Pasmanda leaders had not realised the great potential of their movement. The Pasmanda movement gave a body blow to the majoritarian Hindu communalism. One speaker questioned Congress leader Salman Khursheed’s declaration that the govt. was considering a separate quota for OBC Muslims under the 27% OC quota. There was no need for such a separate quota as they are already getting it under the common quota. If the govt. was serious it should rescind the 1950 Central Govt. order that ejected out the depressed castes professing Islam and Christianity from the Central and State list of Scheduled Castes, and gave reservation of Dalit Muslims not in the name of religion but on the basis of their caste. Feroz Mansoori, the president of the youth wing, said Salman Khursheed was only trying to break the unity of OBCs along religious lines and prevent OBC Muslims joining their blood brothers. Delhi was promoting Ashraf Muslims and suppressing the caste-based identities of lower caste Muslims. A BAMCEF Dalit activist congratulated Pasmanda Muslims for embracing Islam. But the upper castes too embraced Islam to get favours from the Muslim kings and feudal lords. So the same caste system engulfed the Indian Muslim community too. The Sachhar Committee report had said Ashraf,. Ajlaf, Arzal are three social categories among Muslims. Dalit-Pasmanda Muslims reject the Sachhar report which helps Muslims in perpetual state of harbouring false hopes from the caste. Buddha Sharan Hans presided over the meet. Kamal Ashraf, working president of the AIUMM, dwelt on the functioning of the organsiation. The main speakers of the seminar included noted Janata Dal (U) leader Nihora Prasad Yadav, Prof. Mohammad Sharif, head of department, Law College, Patna University, Patna; Prof. Ramashis Singh, Editor, Aap Ka Aina magazine; Rakesa Priyadarshi, the noted Dalit poet; Umesh Rajak, BAMCEF pracharak, Ashok Yadav, writer on social justice issues etc.
Badudeo Mazumdar, 164/C/51 Lake Gardens, Calcutta -700 045: Dalits were one again on Oct.14, 2009 violently debarred from entering the Ekambareshwar temple at Chettipulam village in Nagapattanam, Tamil Nadu. This is nothing new. Babasaheb Ambedkar too faced such ugly resistance from Brahmins. He had bitter experience. I thought with spread of education, democratic values, awareness and rationality this obnoxious issue will be a thing of the past. But no, this is happening today, and almost throughout India in varied degrees. This is a serious issue. Dalit can be a scientist, engineer or a doctor or an academician but can’t be allowed to enter a Hindu temple because he is impure. Caste discrimination and the repugnant pollution flow from the Hindu shastras. Upper castes (Hindus) started believing these distorted concepts being in religious texts and these being in force for the last 5,000 years since the Aryans came to India, have gone into Hindu blood stream. He does not consider caste discrimination as anything wrong. It is in the shastras, so what’s wrong. In other words caste- apartheid gets its sustenance from the Hindu shastras. The difference between South Africa’s apartheid and India’s caste system is the SA variety had no religious sanction. That is how SA apartheid vanished, caste apartheid continued in India despite its so called progress and modernity. The objectionable paragraphs and references in Hindu scriptures require reformation. So long as the Hindu scriptures are not reformed, caste apartheid in some form or the other will continue. But will Hinduism admit reforms? There are two alternatives: (1) Dalits may stop going to temple. 2) Dalits may build their own temple. The second one is more viable, Reformation would make Hinduism strong and vibrant. The govt. should start a strong media campaign against the caste.
Brother Basudeo is wrong. The Father of India. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, has said Hinduism cannot be reformed. Only after realising it, he went over to Budhism. Hundreds of saints have tried and failed. Please give up the hope of repairing a broken mirror. Even the most poor and illiterate have embraced Islam and Christianity after realising this supreme truth. Please read our literature. Dennis Selvan, Madras: Look at the character and behavior of the Brahmin priests in our “holy temples”. The priest of Machcheshwara Peruman temple, Devanathan, who had been on the run for about two months, surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate-I, Kancheepuram, on Nov.7,2009 and was remanded in judicial custody till Nov. 30. The police got scent of his impersonation after his sexual escapades with a few women on the temple premises that were recorded by himself on his mobile phone, became public. A case was registered against him but he fled Kancheepuram along with his wife Ganga and two teenage daughters. The Kanchi police said that they would file a petition before the magistrate, seeking custody of the accused for further inquiry. Meanwhile, the Madras High Court rejected his anticipatory bail. The police have also taken into custody his wife. They are questioning seven of Devanathan’s relatives at Pazhaiya Seewaram village, 20 km from Kancheepuram.
