Editorial: “It is do or die on Ambedkar university”
Dalits all over India and their co-sufferers will be naturally sad over Maharashtra govt’ s outright rejection of their simple demand for rename the Marathwada University after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the greatest Indian after the Buddha and the tallest of the revolutionaries of “independent” India. This is their second defiant an issue that has created history. When the perverted history of this country Is going to be rewritten this historic struggle of the Dalits over the Nama far (renaming) issue will form ifs first golden chapter. The defeat of the Opposition billon the nomination Sept. 17, 1982 proves that Dalits have no friends. We should welcome this defeat because this will provoke us for launch a bigger battle. Had the Hindus accepted our demanding 1978 itself this “Marathwada caste war. “independent” India’s first and the longest Dalit uprising, would not have come about. In 1981, the Hindus launched their “Gujarat caste war”. In this historic “Long march” of Dec.6 1979 this writer was among the 40.000 arrested of Aurangabad on the Nayantara issue.
