Dalit Killed By Police

Kotla Nihang (Punjab): The death by torture of a maidservant in police custody has infuriated the people of Tilenuma village, near this semi-rural town. Though her father, brother and five children are still in a state of shock, the thrist for revenge can be seen on their faces. Thirty five-year-old Balbiro had been working as a domestic help in the house of Akshay Kumar Mudgil, sub- divisional officer of the Ropar thermal power plant for the last six and-a-half years. All these years, she never took her wages from the Mudgils who were paying her Rs. 250 per month. (Telegraph Aug.30)
