Bangalore: Our friend poor Abdul Rehman Atulya, barrister, persecuted by Hindu nazis for the past 10 years just because he is a Muslim, has been totally acquitted by an upper caste Hindu judge himself on Dec. 11 in Bombay. Atulya was innocent and even the nazis knew it but they wanted to use the court to persecute him. They have failed. But that doesn’t mean the persecution of Atulya and Muslims will end. It is all part of the “Spanish Experiment” (DV Aug. 1, 92, p.20)
The persecution of Atulya, MP, began with the launch of the much-publicised fake “investigative journalism” of Hindu nazi journalist, Arun Shourie, then editor of the Indian Express. With the resignation of Antulay, his “investigative journalism” also ended.
Antulay was Maratha – dominated Maharashtra’s first Muslim CM and the last. He was so popular throughout that he used to get elected from his Konkan coastal constituency without even going there.
He has the people’s support, he has money. He has everything but no press. That means even to defend the justice and truth for which he worked; he has no media support. Muslims have no media (DV edit: Nov. 1 ’92, Warning to Muslims on Media”). What a tragedy. And poor Antulay continues to be in the Congress, the cause of his trouble, and hence remains imprisoned.
