With reference to “Why BSP faced defeat?” by Babu Raghu, New Delhi (DV Aug.1, p.9), I have to state the following:
Even your periodical warnings did not make Kashi Ram to change his track. In 1980-81, I tried my best to convince him to have our own media. But he failed to take note of our practical proposal. I was in Delhi, editing/helping Hindi-English Bahujan Times for three months even at the cost of my service. He should have invited you to manage the entire media. As Kashi Ram failed to launch our own media, Dalit Voice became the sole hope for all the oppressed, persecuted minorities of the country. I have been a subscriber of DV and its admirer since 1980. Again, I want to Delhi and was there for two months. But I am sorry to say that though Kashi Ram is heading an independent political party (BSP) some of his practical actions appears to be helping the nazis. All our Dalit politicians have sold themselves to Hindus. On the issue of renaming Marathwada University after Babasaheb, Ramdas Athawale disappointed us. So DV remains our only hope.
When Bajirao Kamble, a senior Republican Party leader, wanted to launch a Marathi Dalit Voice, I went to Pune to meet him taking it as my duty to discuss his plans. But I could not meet him.
