Bangalore: Judiciary in India is not only a close preserve of the upper caste rulers, but their only hope of protecting the varnashrama dharma Only those with “merit and efficiency” are selected as judges as there is no reservation to the posts of High Court and Supreme Court judges.
See what happened to this exclusive preserve of the Aryan brahminical merit-mongers.
Karnataka for instance, provides a remarkable model for the mess in which the judiciary in the country finds itself today. Official figures state that over 1,30,000 cases were pending before the High Court as on July 1 1993. At this rate the judiciary may soon collapse under the sheer weight of its workload. As it is, it takes over 15 years to clear the arrears, let alone those which may file in the coming months and years. (Deccan Herald, Sept. 13).
The High Courts and Supreme Court have not only become so costly and inaccessible to those outside the BSO but they are completely preoccupied with ruling class disputes only. And this charmed circle of ruling class (BSO) comprises not even 15% of India’s population.
Look, what a horrible state we have been pushed to in 50 years of “independence”.
