Untouchability, unapprochability and unseeability are products of caste system. Our rulers, crooked and cunning, as they are, have “abolished” untouchability by law a trick to deceive the Untouchables. Every sensible person knows that untouchability cannot be cleansed from the face of India as long as caste system exists.
Caste system is the very brain and breath of Hindus. Unless and until caste system is abolished root and branch, India will be the land of caste and untouchability. Even after 50 years of independence, untouchability is everywhere right from Kanya Kumari to Kashmir. The villain of the play is caste system and untouchability is only a by-product of this.
No.1 enemy of India: If caste system goes untouchability will also go. So, the enemy No.1 of this ancient land of civilisation and culture is the monster of caste system. It is now over 50 years that India has become independent. Why our sovereign rulers are not killing this monster?
Beef-eating: As for determining the lower limit to the birth of untouchability, let us tum to the Chinese traveller who came to India in 400 AD. He recorded that at that time there was no untouchability in India. On the basis of the Chinese traveller’s statement we can conclude that while untouchability did not exist in 200 AD, it had emerged by 600 AD. So can we fix an approximate date for the birth of untouchability. Taking the ban on beef-eating as a point to decide the date of birth of untouchability, that it came into existence in 400 AD, out of the struggle for supremacy between Budhism and brahminism which has completely moulded the history of India.
