Azeez Sait, the Karnataka minister for labour and waqfs, has alleged that the Assam massacre of Muslims was well planned, and that the Rashtriya Swaym sewak Sangh (RSS) and Assamese. ex-servicemen had jointly masterminded the scheme. He spoke to Arabia after his three-day visit to Assam. He said the holocaust could have been avoided – if government intelligence had read the situation correctly.
The RSS had mobilised its personnel from all over the country, RSS organiser Joshi from Karnataka was sent to Assam in preparation for the assault. Joshi camped in Assam for months.
Sait verified reports that survivors had been blinded in hospitals by Assamese personnel. He said the victims were now being treated under the supervision of Jamaat-Islami Hind, Calcutta.
Sait says that the new Assam government has rehabilitated 400 families which survived the Nellie massacre. [ Arabia, London, Sept. 1983]
