SIMI repeats DV warning on Spanish experiment”
STUDENTS ISLAMIC MOVEMENT OF INDIA 151-C, ZAKIR NAGAR, NEW DELHI – 25
New Delhi: The situation in our country is deteriorating fast and with growing uncertainty, injustice and tyranny are also increasing. Muslims especially are the target of injustice. Textbooks are being poisoned. History is being distorted. Muslims are expelled after being branded as Bangla deshi. Students and youth are being arrested under the draconian law of TADA and baseless charges are being framed against them. Anti – Muslim force and the govt. seem to be doing all this with calculated planning. They want to gauge the Muslim response before launching the next offensive. Gradually, they would like to condemn Muslims to a fate’ like Spain in this effort, the press is actively collaborating. (DV edit on Spanish Experiment Aug. ’92 p.20).
How are the Muslim youth being terrorised? The simple reality is that hundreds of them have been rounded up under TADA, in Rajasthan, Gujrat, and other parts of the country. They are being subjected to cruelty and torture. This has been going on for quite sometime. They have yet to get justice.
SIM, which is a constructive organization of students and youth, and which wants to replace tyranny with justice, has been a target. The press is trying to club it with extremist movements. (“Damaging reports on SIMI” DV Nov. 1 ’92 p.18). CBI and police are framing baseless charge against its workers. In this connection, our clarifications and press notes are being totally ignored. Some ex-members of SIM were arrested under TADA and implicated in false cases. Press highlighted these fabricated stories and created a sensation as if SIM was an underground organization. While the reality is that SIM is working solely by constructive means and working openly.
Objective: What do the govt. agencies and anti-Muslim forces plan to achieve by all this?
The answer is that the govt. and its collaborators want to deprive the Muslims of their religious and cultural identity. The youth of Muslim community are aware of this condemnable plan and want to resist. Educated and courageous youth are coming forward to foil these plans. This has upset the anti-Islamic forces and hence these renewed attacks on SIM.
Warning to elders: After the Iqdam-E-Umid Conference, anti-Islamic forces became nervous. The mes- sage of return to Allah and struggle in this way is a message which is fatal to the forces of falsehood. The anti-Islamic forces have become active. Anti SIM offensive began. T.K. Abbo Baker was martyred in Kerala. The Zonal president SIM Gujrat was arrested. This is the beginning of direct attacks on SIM. It is also an important juncture of SIM’s history. We have entered the period of test. This trend may grow. After responsible people of SIM may also be arrested all over the country. At this juncture, we wish to point out certain things to the elder of Muslim community and to the SIM workers.
SIM is a student body which is the representative of the Muslim community. Is objectives methodology and meager services are there, for everybody to see. This is a living force in the new generation. It has always spoken with clarity and boldness. Its activities are well known. The anti-Islamic forces are giving it a bad image so that your support to it may disappear. It is their plan to demoralize the whole community and silence those who will resist the un-islamic onslaught most. You should realise your responsibility. If you wake up late, that may not serve any purpose. Only tears of repentance will remain.
Another Satan indicted
New Delhi: Prof Mushir-ul-Hasan, pro vice-chancellor of the Jamia Millia Islamia, whose remarks on Salman Rushdie’s book, The Satanic Verses, had led to angry protests by a large section of the university community in April, has been indicted by the high-powered committee, constituted by the Union govt. to probe the controversy.
However, the committee has recommended no action against him in view of an unconditional regret submitted to it by Prof Hasan. (Times of India Nov. 24).
