BELLARY: More than 200 persons has been converted to Islam in the last two months in Bellary city. The conversions were kept secret and was known only when they were introduced in the masjids. Reports of conversions have also come from the border taluks of Andhra Pradesh. Last week, Kondareddi of Kanekal village in Rayadurga taluk was converted to Islam with his family of eight. His new name is Khalid Rehman. Conversions have also been reported from Sandur, where a flour mill owner with his family was converted to Islam. Most of the converts belong to the backward classes.
