“An open mind is welcome”, said Babasaheb Ambedkar, “but if an open mind is also an empty mind, it is a dangerous situation”. This is what | conclude from “Tirupati God, Bali or Balaji?” by Jaru | (DV, May 16-21, 1991 p.19). What is the rationale | presented by Jaru except a few cock and bull stories | from the Puranas? By stretching one word Bali-Baliji- Balaji, Jaru weaved an irrational and meaningless | story. It is totally silly to rely on what North Indians | and Tulu-speakers call a temple located in Andhra. Is there any history on this? Worse, Bali Chakravarti is a puranic and not a historical figure. All this Bali business is against what Dr. Ambedkar asked us to follow viz. Buddhism for liberation of SC/BC/ST (Indian races). What evidence Jaru has in his | possession to say, “Brahmins by and large were happy with Bali’s rule, but only some selfish Brahmins opposed Bali ….” Why this foolsome importance to the Brahmins?
This fable by Jaru damns the famous “Document of Dr. Jamnadas: “Tirupati temple is Buddhist” (DV | March 16-31, 1991 p16).
