Chandrapur: The Maharashtra government will spend Rs 2 crores for raising a memorial for Mahatma Jyoti Phule and opening an institute at his home, which would be declared as a national monument, Dadasaheb Rupavati, former minister and acting president of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar centenary celebrations committee, said here on Oct. 15. The government would also spend Rs. 2.5 crores on the chaitya Bhoomi and rajagriha, of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. Sixteen books written by Dr. Ambedkar had been translated into Marathi and about nine of them would be available within a month. Similarly, the works of Mahatma Phule also were being translated into English. (Times of India Oct. 18).
