Even as the rabid forces of Hindutva relentlessly strike at the Indian Muslims, in a concerted bid to annihilate them completely, Dr. Tahir Mohmood, Professor of law at Delhi University, has come out with a bizarre, crank theory of Islam being but merely a different version of Hinduism. While he may thereby have pleased his Aryan masters, there can be no doubt whatsoever that his theory (Times of India, Dec. 22) has greatly boosted the morale of those who today very vociferously demand that the Indian Muslims must hinduize themselves and declare themselves to be mere “Mohammadi Hindus”.
The learned professor ought not to be credited with the capacity of being so original and inventive as to come up with this theory on his own. It appears, instead, that a certain self-proclaimed Muslim. “acharya”, by name Shams Naved Osmani, had developed this theory quite some time ago.
Crazy assertions: Tahir has merely exhibited his lack of originality by presenting this “acharya’s” view in his own words. These views incidentally, are as inane as they are devious. Tahir says Adam and Eve were none other than Shiva and Parvati, Noah was “none other than the great Manu of the Vedic period”, the books considered to have been given to Adam and Noah were probably the Vedas and in all likelihood Moses was the Indian Krishna. Tahir goes on to make a host of similar crazy assertions each one without any concrete substantiation worth the name.
As a professor of law, he ought to know that such strident declarations require proofs to back them up which his thesis sorely lacks. (This, incidentally, speaks volumes of the dismal standard of our professors in Indian universities these days).
Falsification of history: Tahir attempts to reduce almost the entire Jewish, Christian and Islamic theology to Hinduism. He says referring to the Quran, Torah and Bible, that “Each of these three holy books contained an updated and topical versions of the gyan originally found in the Adi-granths of India”. By Adi Granth he means the Vedas.
Here Tahir sounds no different from the likes of P.N. Oak, a Maharashtrian nazi fabricator of history, and others of the Hindu nazi tribe, according to whom everything under the sun from the tiny needle to the space rocket was the invention of the vedic Aryans.
One such “learned” Hindu had, recently came up with the very fascinating thesis that the dreaded disease AIDS was first discovered by the vedic Hindus.
Hindu origin of Islam: Others, equally crazy, have declared that the Ajmer Dargah is a Shiva temple, that the Taj Mahal and Delhi’s Red Fort were originally Hindu palaces, and a host of other such insane claims that do not deserve mention here.
But the point to note is that Tahir employs the same logic as these self-proclaimed Hindu nazi “historians” when claiming the Hindu origin of Islam, Christianity and Judaism.
Hinduising Muslims: He quotes his guru, Shams Naved Osmani, as saying that, “Hindus were the first and the Muslims were the last people of scripture on the earth.”
If Islam is but a mere version of the “gyan found In the Adl Granths of India”, then Tahir’s sinister logic would suggest that the Indian Muslims ought not to or at least need not resist the Hindu fascist onslaught to hinduise them.
One wonders if Tahir would concede the logical implications of his inane assertions. II Rama, Krishna, Manu, Parvati, Shiva and other such members of the Hindu pantheon were indeed “prophets” and the unnamed prophets as mentioned in the Quran (as Tahir proclaims), how can one reconcile this assertion with the well-known fact that these deities stand as the representatives of the brahminical caste order which is unambiguously anti-Islamic in spirit?
Certainly no Quranic prophet would have slain the innocent but great Shudra Shambhuk as Rama did. One wishes Tahir and others of his “learned” tribe would unlearn some of their received “wisdom” by reading Dr. Ambedkar’s Riddles in Hinduism. Tahir could thereby enlighten himself instead of misleading others by claiming to be bearing the burden of having to enlighten them.
