Bangalore: One of India’s top most Brahmin leaders, who echoes the views his Kanchi Pitha that selects the Prime Ministers of India, has opposed privatization. That means the “socialist brahmins” win.
Arakkonam – Former President R. Venkataraman on Oct. 11 lashed out at the liberalization policy of the Government and warned the Centre against allowing – unrestricted imports.
If the Government went ahead with its policy, the people would not allow it. A free market economy was not good for the country in the present situation. The United States had no business to force its free market economy on other countries.
He criticised the withdrawal of controls and said — industry had prospered only when the controls and regulations were there. Prior to 1948, when there were no controls and regulations, there had been no industrial development in the country. When those — controls were there, industry had seen a boom.
