Bangalore: The big success of the three- day March 14-16, 2003 “Seminar on Brahminism” here has encouraged the organisers, Indian Social Institute, to hold a second 3-day seminar at the southern tip of India, Tirunelveli, in Aug.1l5 – 17, 2003.
The Editor of Dalit Voice, V.T. Rajshekar, who delivered the valedictory address of the Bangalore seminar, has agreed to attend the Tirunelveli seminar also. (DV April 16, 2003, p.7: “Brahminism can’t be cured hence endured?”). DV family members in South Tamil Nadu and South Kerala may contact Kalam: 5/B – Ambai Road, Kulavanigar Nagar, Tirunelveli, TN – 627 005 or Fr. Albert at the Indian Social Institute, 24 – Benson Road, Benson Town, Bangalore – 560 046.
The seminar will be followed by a public meeting in the city center. Meanwhile, we have received many requests to publish the valedictory speech delivered by the Editor at the Bangalore seminar. This speech is being developed into a book (about 100 pages) as the subject covered happened to be of great importance. The tentative title of the book is “Weapons to fight Brahminism”.
Following the release of the Editor’s “Hottest book of the century”, Brahminism (DSA-2002, Rs. 50) at Hyderabad and a seminar on it on July 17,2002, there has been many demands from different parts of India to hold such seminars and requesting the Editor to be present. The Editor has said it was impossible to attend all such seminars. All the more he has assured his presence at important centres.
