June 14 is Che Guevera’s 64th birth anniversary which we are observing as the “Day of Emancipation of the Oppressed Peoples” by organizing a Conference on “National Self-Determination” on June 15, 16, 1991. Che Guevera Faught for the emancipation of the – beleaguered nationalities crossing all barrios of race, language, country and even religion. Recent developments in the world shows a trend of using self-determination as a weapon for liberation of each Nation. in Soviet Union, the breaking up of various nationalities, Serbian revolt n Yugoslavia. At the same time, in spite of belonging to same nation, East and West Germany were separated after the II World War. North and South Yemen were also separated. But now both these two nationalities got united together. In the Indian sub-continent also many nationalities are there, having their own distinct national characteristics. To retain these, they are fighting for their emancipation. Why these nationalities are fighting in this sub-continental? tare the reasons and what are the solutions for their ‘problems? Some communal organizations are raising lot of noise about the threat to India’s unity and integrity. This noise is intended to drown the feelings of the different nationalities. To have a wide -discussion, we have organised this Conference. (see also DV May 1 p.15 and DV edit “self-determination for all nations).
