Bangalore : Our fears on PV Narasimha Rao’s mischievous “economic criterion” to determine backwardness are corning true. His trick had a triple design: (1) to please his Aryan upper castes, (2) to deceive the backward castes and then (3) put the blame on the Supreme Court when it strikes down his order on the Mandal Commission Report. This became clear when the court resumed hearing the Mandal case on Jan. 29. PVN, the most cunning “socialist brahmin PM who warded off the Sonia mania now wants to ward off the Mandal mania through the mischief of the undefinable “economic criterion”.
The mischief is that the “economic criterion for his 10% job reservation for the “poor among the upper castes” cannot be determined because in India there are no “poor”. A person becomes “poor when the human rights of his community are robbed. And when that human rights (meaning reservations) are restored, he will solve his “poverty” himself. The govt. need not bother about his “poverty”. That means the alleged “poverty of India’s deprived SC/ST/BCS (65%) and Muslims (15%) is not economic but social, cultural and ultimately political.
