Bangalore: See the power of caste in India. Hinduism, the so-called “religion” of the rulers, is a bundle of castes. This “religion”, if it can be called so, is used to bundle up the “low castes” and bludgeon them to submission. This is the meaning of Hinduism.
In the ultimate analysis what matters is the caste. Brahmins, the presiding caste over this bundle of castes, are a micro-minority of just 2%. But they created the castes to bundle up the whole lot of SC/ST/BCs and those above – Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudra – so that they stand tall above all these castes and call themselves the “lords of the land”.
RELIGION OR CASTE ?
Here is a TOI report to prove our point:
Bangalore: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa’s confidence in defying the BJP bosses’ purported orders to put in his papers stems from his trump card: being a Lingayat. In the past, wounded and hurt Lingayat leaders managed to stir emotions resulting in vengeful politics. For, Lingayats constitute 22% of the total 5.5 crore of Karnataka’s population. The community’s clout runs in 80 of the total 224 assembly constituencies with North Karnataka, where the districts are the most backward
The Lingayats may be 22% of the state population but they are not a “caste” but a religion called Veerashaivas (Lingayats) which comprises all sorts of castes from top to bottom. When it suits the upper castes among the Lingayats, they call themselves a religion separate from Hinduism.
The “low castes” among Lingayats are all SC/ST/OBCs and BCs who continue to remain where they were before conversion. Lingayat lords, however, are converts from upper castes.
MOST CORRUPT CHIEF MINISTER
The whole thing is chaotic. The Karnataka politics is dominated by the Lingayats in which only the upper caste Banajigas, Jangamas, Sadars count. The other converted “low castes” are Lingayats only for purposes of bloating their jati population.
Anybody studying the problem of caste in India will go mad.
Those interested in the power of caste may order our book, Caste – A Nation Within the Nation (V.T. Rajshekar, Books for Change, Bangalore, Rs 140 Copies available with DV).
Karnataka’s most corrupt Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, belongs to this caste – his crimes fully blessed by the entire Brahmin gods, Lingayat Swamis and even other upper castes.
As long as the caste system continues, corruption can never be curbed.
VOKKALIGA OPPOSITION
When the princely Mysore state was being merged in the larger Karnataka at the time of states reorganisation, another dominant caste, Vokkaligas, which lost power, agitated against the merger fearing Lingayat domination. Their fears came true. Almost all Chief Ministers were Lingayats. Joining hands with another exploitative caste, Brahmin, they formed the Brahmana Jati Party (BJP) and made Yeddyurappa CM, a real worm in the shit called Brahminism who proved to be India’s most corrupt CM.
But no upper caste religious leader or swami will say this in public. Hinduism is the other name for corruption.
