In his editorial to the prestigious English monthly, Modern Rationalist, its editor, Veeramani, general secretary of the Dravida Kazagham, suggests population-wise reservation to each caste group. He says: Would it not be possible to render equal justice and give equal opportunities for all based on proportional representation based on population? Even the forward communities would submit if communal justice is based on population. The editorial adds:
We hope the Government of India would come forward to release the Mandal Commission Report and explain the action taken thereon in Parliament. This is a burning issue concerned with three fourths of the population. A government said to be wedded to socialist outlook cannot afford to stand in the way of the progress and plenty of the vast millions of OBCs.
