Bombay: Over 130 Dalit Panthers were arrested here on July 27 for staging a protest demonstration demanding renaming of the Marathwada University after Dr. Ambedkar. Those arrested include Dorai Anbalagan, president, Dharavi unit of the Dalit Panthers. Manohar Ankush and other Panthers were arrested on the 6th floor of the secretariat for shouting slogans against the Antulay Government for its failure to implement the unanimous resolution of both the houses of the Maharashtra legislature. The Panthers also protested against the eviction of pavement and hut dwellers of Bombay during the rainy season.
