Instead, the top star of the Palestinian cause is now the telegenic Ms Hanan Ashrafi, (45) a West Bank university professor with clipped English, stylishly short hair and an impish smile. As the spokeswoman of the Palestinian delegation to the Madrid talks, she has become the most sought-after interview at Je conference.
While Arafat remains the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organizabilities, the image and status of the Palestinian leadership have -undergone a dramatic change. (Telegraph Oct. 30).
