Nagpur: Many Budha followers who chant “Jai Bhim”, while greeting one another, are neglecting the man who coined this phrase in his centenary year that began on Jan.5
Babu Hardas – the great pioneer – and a neglected leader, who was nicknamed “LN” coined “Jai Bhim” way back on Sept. 7, 1931. He had given a final warning to the British Raj during the second Round Table Conference that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkarwas the sole leader of Dalits in the country.
Babu Hardas was born in 1904 in Kamptee. Since childhood, he took up the cause of Untouchables and highlighted the problems faced by the Dalits through a popular magazine, Maharatta.
However, no documentary evidence is found today to corroborate his great deeds. (Lokmat Times, Jan.6, 2004).
