Sheikh Mohammad Iqbal, Srinagar :
I wish you all success as you are engaged in carrying out a great mission and a just struggle against discrimination.
Gail Omvedt, Kasegaon, Maharashtra :
I read your editorial on Devadasi (Dec. 15). You say no women’s movement bothered about them. This is not true. If you only read for example, Manushi, you can get some idea of the concern. Or look at my book, ‘We Will Smash This Prison‘. When both the movements are struggling against a powerful system, why do you find it necessary to add your voice for an attack on the women’s movement?
Gobinda Mokhoty, president, PUDR, New Delhi:
DV gives me lot of useful information about the downtrodden.
Balbir Singh, Delhi:
So much of noise is being made by Hindus when we Sikh ex-servicemen join the Khalistan movement but the very same Hindus and their press have been silent when RSS is conducting shakhas to Defence officers. Deoras had given a call to all Hindu officers in military to join RSS and two of my officers were secretly attending RSS shakhas even while in service. Why this double standards by Hindus?
Bapurao Pakhiddey, Dalit Panthers, Delhi:
It will be my privilege if we could contribute something enabling the oppressed masses rise in revolt.
N. S. Vanker, Bajwa, Gujarat:
I saw the Dec. 1 issue of DV and was attracted by the “Muslim-Dalit Alliance”. If this is done the two persecuted minorities can regain their lost glory.
Linda and Jorgen, (Danish students touring India) Trivandurm :
Your books and DV have opened a whole new world before us. We want to know more about Untouchables and how we can support them.
Rev. M. V. D. Bogert, Xavier Inst., Ranchi:
We have plenty of Dalits, tribals. Do they fall under its definition?
Jens Johansen, Aarhus, Denmark:
I came across DV and read it with more sorrow than interest. Your concern is of vital interest to me as a Danish Christian with friends in India and I think that the things you uncover need to be known by a large public audience.
Shaheer Alam, Gorakhpur:
I am inspired by the saying “The weaknesses of many make the leader possible”. With this knowledge you must strive harder to give the lead in the right direction. My services are at your disposal.
Syed Asghar Hussain, IAS (retd.) Hyderabad :
The era of national parties is coming to an end. To fill the gap, we should form regional parties. Dalits, minorities and OBCs must come together to develop the pattern of DMK. I have dedicated 10 years of my life for the weaker sections. Spent enough money. But I am still optimistic and sure that results would come within 5 years. People have already started admiring and appreciating DV and its services. In another 5 years it will become the most important journal of India and minorities and Dalits will flock around it.
Dalits of BHEL, Trichy, TN:
We used to do the most degrading job as sanitary workers to earn a living. But the BHEL management awarded labour contract, and the contractor extracts more work with less pay. Had we been directly employed we would have earned more. Will Dalits send protests to the management?
