Bangalore : The famed Guruvayur temple in Kerala has become the centre of a controversy exposing the Hindu humbug that untouchability Is not part of their religion. Keral Harijan Federation led by a top dalit leader of the State, Kallara Sukumaran, has launched an agitation against this temple, with 101 dalit youths beginning a protest 350-km walk from Trivandrum reaching Guruyayur on Feb. 13. The protest was sparked off by the nasty behaviour of the Brahmins controlling this famous temple having miIlions of rupees income. Swami Ramananda Thirtha, born a Brahmin but now working amid dalits in North Kera’s, had gone to Guruvayur along with a band of dalit youths to join the free-feeding of Brahmins in that temple. Free-feeding of Brahmins is done in every Hindu temple although its income comes from all the communities. It was to protest this open untouchability being practised in that temple (and every temple), they have started on this protest march. The dalit protest has exposed the deception of Hindu religious leaders, the Govt, and the different political parties including the Marxists
