Ever since the death of the Sant, who is today a cult figure in Punjab, the Sikhs have been leaderless. The arrest of Simranjit Singh Mann, an IPS officer, his torture in the jail and his subsequent election as MP and his party sweeping the Parliament elections, made him fill up this leadership gap. Even a MP belonging to his party was murdered by pushing him into a canal. Sikh dissensions are partly creations of the upper caste forces and their fatt press. But when every Sikh knows these tricks of the oppressors, they should have stood united against the oppressors. But this did not happen. Whether this so-called “Sikh disunity” was a fact or not we are not in a position to say because we have no other source of information. except the very same upper caste “national” napkin papers which are doing everything to discredit the Sikhs.
