Dear respected educated Dalits,
Please spare some time from your busy schedule to read this email. Dalits are living as Untouchables in the outskirts of villages for the past 2,000 years. They are poor, illiterate, landless, propertyless, dehumanised slave labourers for the past 2,000 years. They constitute 1/4th of Indian population, i.e. more than the population of USA. They are more than the combined population of Japan, Germany, France and UK.
NEED OF THE HOUR
Such vast masses are degraded and condemned as Untouchables by Brahminism. Untouchability is the lowest depth to which a human mind can be degraded. Untouchables are kicked, killed, burnt and raped day in and day out. Yet, our voice and pain is unheard, because we do not have a single media of our own except DV. The entire media in India is owned by Brahminists who through their media monopoly shape public opinion and turns the ass into genius and vice-versa.
Fortunately, through the efforts of Dr. Ambedkar, a small middle class of 5-10% emerged from these Dalits through the reservation policy. Today there are many Dalits from this middle class living a comfortable life. But this middle class after getting education through this reservation policy has totally forgotten its brothers and sisters in villages who constitute over 90% of Dalits. Without a powerful “media centre” neither can we fight the enemy noг educate the vast masses of Dalits about their slavery. Thycydides said: “Tell the slave about his slavery and the slave shall explode”. But without the media how can we reach the slaves and tell them about the slavery? So the need of the hour is to have our own media centre.
KISSING THE ENEMY
Dr. Ambedkar said Hinduism is a disease and asked us to quit this religion. But our “educated Dalit (middle class) go to our enemy Hindu temples and donate so much money. Dear brothers tell me a religion which destroyed our very human personality, why are you donating and shaving your heads in these temples. These Hindu temples are dens of Brahminism. Why are you “educated” Dalits supporting our enemy and their religion? Despite your education why are you still slaves? Why are you kissing the enemy? I need your answer. Think over. Should we pool our money and start a “media centre” or donate money to our enemy temples? I am a PhD student in Taiwan (A Dalit from Hyderabad) and I live on a scholarship.
ENEMY TEMPLES
I do not have any money but still I am donating 2 month of my scholarship money (Rs. 50,000) to Dalit Voice. The Editor of Dalit Voice, V.T. Rajshekar, is determined to start a “media centre in Delhi. I beg you all educated Dalits, please contribute to Dalit Voice which has created a record on its 30-year-old history
Educated Dalits are earning well and live for 60-70 years. In this life span how many times you must have visited our enemy temples and donated money to them and how many times you contributed to our own Dalit cause? Do you have shame?
