Bangalore: It is now a total victory for Tamil nationalists, as we predicted. DV has proved right in its story on Veerappan. (DV Sept. 1, 2000 p.5: “Veerappan-Rajkumar stand-off signifies war of two nations and p. 7: “Birth of a new Tamil national hero“).
Reports from Madras indicate that the two govts. of TN and Karnataka have finally acknowledged the fact that Veerappan has become the supreme leader of the emerging “Tamil nation” (Hindu Oct. 11, 2000). Reports also indicate that the Tamil papans are terribly upset over the sudden turn of events. And this was the cause of the “national” toilet papers all-out attack on Veerappan. Papans are India’s only people who have mastered the law of contradictions. Our people have not even heard of this law. That means every word said in DV proved prophetic. A report from Madurai said Veerappan’s wife, Muthulaxmi, was the star attraction at the Oct.1 conference of Tamil nationalists. P. Nedumaran, a great supporter of the LTTE’s Elam movement, is the head of the Tamizhar Desiya lyakkam which hosted the conference. The selection of Nedumaran to lead the new team to meet Veerappan in the jungle gives a totally new shift to the kidnap story. In other words, the Elam (Tamil nation) people consider Veerappan as their leader. Those calling him “brigand” are warned.
Warning to Nedumaran: But DV would like to warm Nedumaran also that Elam includes all Tamils the Lankan as well as India’s Tamils. In the name of Dravidian movement, the Tamil Dalits were once taken for a ride. Tamil nationalists are warned against repeating such a mistake. Tamils may be a “nation” but Tamil Dalits are a “nation” within that “nation”.
DV Oct. 16, 2000 p.17: “Enslaved Tamils throw up a national hero to avenge Kannadiga invasion”
