I read in the Tarun Bharat that Dr. Ambedkar once visited a RSS shakha. He wished to know about Untouchable cadets. He was told to directly ask the shaka members. When he asked none stepped forward. The parade in-charge explained that the RSS did not follow untouchability. On asking how many are Mangs or Mahars, some three four cadets stepped forward.
R.S.S. MISCHIEF
This is the story in the magazine to show even Dr. Ambedkar visited the RSS shakha and also to boast of RSS not observing untouchability I have not seen any confirmation for this story in any of Dalit books or any literature. I also asked many people in the movement about the truth in this story. Nobody verified. Nobody knows about it.
After the grand conversion to Budhism (1956), there was a party in Shyam Hotel. I happened to be there. The meeting is well documented where Babasaheb asked the political leaders to learn to work with people of other castes. At the meeting Datto pant Thengadi (who later became a top RSS leader) says he was present there as a boy serving snacks. When the admission was with passes, where we were searched before admission by SSD volunteers, how RSS cadet could sneak in?
SCOUNDREL’S TALK
Thengadi later published an “interview with Dr. Ambedkar though the interview had never taken place.
I read a report in the Mahanayak, Marathi daily (March 7, 2009), about Dr. Ambedkar’s burning of Manu smriti (1927), Principal Narhar Kurundkar has written that on that occasion (Tark Tirth) Laxman Shastri Joshi was present. When Dalit author Ratnakar Ganveer verified from Joshi, a different story was told to Ganveer which he published in the Mahad Samata Sangar. Joshi said he was not present at the burning of Manu smriti, but he met Dr. Ambedkar at the latter’s residence and applied to his forehead the ash of burnt Manu smriti. He also told Babasaheb some verses useful as history from the cursed book and praised it. Babasaheb said as he studied from translation, he might have missed it.
GOENKA CONNECTION
Narrating this, Mahanayak sub-editor and author of the article, Prof. Vilas Kharat, calls it scoundrel’s talk, comments that both Kurundkar and Laxman Shastri Joshi were telling a lie and says that Joshi never met Babasaheb. Can some one throw more light?
Four, a Marathi monthly Sugawa (March 2009) has an article by Prabhakar Bagul. He says that during his stay in Burma Babasaheb stayed with S.N. Goenka and had discussion on Dhamma and Vipassana.. Babasaheb asked Goenka to preach Vipassana in India. That is how Goenka came to India after Babasaheb’s death. The author does not mention the source of this news. I found no mention of this in any of the books on Dr. Ambedkar.
I think it must have originated from Goenka’s circle. This story is false, because Dr. Ambedkar never advised his followers to do Vipassana.
SAVARKAR VENOM
Also when Goenka came to India he did not contact Dr. Ambedkar’s disciples. He was settled in India by the followers of Gandhi and Golwalkar. And he established contacts with Vishwa Hindu Parishad and entered into agreement with a Shankaracharya. Can somebody state positively what is the truth? These are small things in the life of Dr. Ambedkar. But why put untruths as truth and distort the history?
Savarkar does not need any introduction. What was his reaction to the mass conversion of Dalits by Dr. Ambedkar (1956) is not widely known outside Maharashtra. He wrote in the Kesari (Oct. 30, 1956, pp.17-18), bitterly criticizing Dr. Ambedkar in venomous language. [Khair mode: vol. 12, p.81 ff.] His main points are worth remembering. He says the number of people embracing Budhism was hardly 2 lakhs, because of the propaganda in the Maharwadas for last eight years and the financial help from Nehru, and help from foreign Budhists. Savarkar was afraid that the number within ten years could reach a million. Worry not, but think: “When Budha himself and Asoka could not make a dent on the Sanatan Dharma, what is an Ambedkar? But such movements, being disruptive and anti-national, we must prevent them from the beginning”, he said.
That Dr. Ambedkar did not become Christian or Muslim, is no obligation on us. He was threatening to embrace Islam, Christianity or Sikhism for many years. Now that he boasts saying that Budhism is the “greatest religion in the world”, why he did not know then? It was a sign of immature intellect or misguiding declarations. Dr. Ambedkar knew. that untouchability was practiced in Islam, Christianity and Sikhism. And also because of some other internal reasons, the bargain could not be struck that time. So he could not embrace these religions and not because of his soft feelings about Hindus, as some Hindu leaders seem to think.
BUDHA CRITICISED
It is shameless for the Hindus to admire the batage (a derogatory word for converts). For last many years Dr. Ambedkar and his followers are showering such abuses in dirty language against Hindu religious books, practices, gods and customs. No other people than the tolerant Hindus would have tolerated such words. They have no guts to criticize the other religions for similar practices. Excepting a few sayings of the Budha, which were probably borrowed from Hindu sages, the rest of Budhist books are full of same rubbish like any other religion.
Dr. Ambedkar said he would not die a Hindu. His vow is already broken, as he will have to die within Hinduism. His jump outside the sphere of Hinduism has fallen within the boundary of Hinduism. As a Hindu is one whose fatherland and holy-land (pitru-bhu and punya-bhu) is Bharat, Dr. Ambedkar will live and die a Hindu, irrespective of his repeatedly, denying it, and irrespective of his saying that he is denouncing Hinduism, and irrespective of including vows in conversion ceremony condemning Hindu religion, like an arrogant child denying his own parentage. It is not possible for him to break the bondage of Hindutva and also the fetters of Untouchability will not break just by embracing Budhism. Untouchability is dying out in Indian cities, and would gradually disappear in villages. Just by embracing Budhism, their untouchability has not been reduced a bit, and they would not be accepted as touchable by the touchable Hindus in villages. On the other hand, they would be treated as outsiders. Therefore, the leaders like Jagjivan Ram, Tapase, Kajrolkar, Rajbhoj etc. do not wish to be entrapped in this net and fall in the pit of Conversion.
Dr. Ambedkar embraced Budhism, not because of any love for it, but, in a dark corner of his mind, there is one more treacherous, anti-national, political ambition.
BOUDHASTHAN & NAGA KINGDOMS
And that is, to establish an Independent Boudha Sthan, an independent Naga Sthan, by uniting all the divisive split forces, like Zarkhand, if he could raise enough strength of Budhists under his religious dominance. This is evident from the speeches of his followers and his own writings
So let not Hindus admire this conversion. Now that, they are bringing back the dug-out bones of Budha from foreign lands and carry these reverently on their head, we must analyze the increasing influence of Budhism from religious and political situation angle, and read again the ancient history from Yavana, Saka, Kushana, Pallava and Huna invasions to Muslim conquest, and how Indian Budhists have joined hands with these invaders. It is better to be safe than sorry and not test the poison by drinking it.
