In DV Nov. 16 91 issue, K. Karuppaiah of Tiruchi has criticised the running of educational institutions by the Dravida Khazagam. This statement comes from a blased mind. DK only bothers about who is a Brahmin and who is not. Other divisions among non-Brahmins are not of much importance as they all belong to one community-namely non-Brahmins as a whole.
The DK concentrates only on attacking Brahmins Those who do not understand this fundamentals of periyarism are beating about the bush and are doing a great disservice to our socially degraded brethren. With ref: to the criticism of P.C. Kandavelu, Madras, I am very sorry to note that he is calling himself “an Untouchable”. This status is not of his own volition, but definitely it has been imposed upon him. He has further stated that he had been “frequently visiting Periyar Thidal, reading literature, participating in all DK activities”. If this is true, then he must not have any doubts.
Kandavelu should know the difference between Dravida Kazhagam and Dravidar Kazhagam. Dravidar Kazhagam means those belonging to Dravidar (people). Dravida Kazhagam means that which belongs to Dravidian land
Dravidar Kazhagam speaks about Dravidar. There is no Brahmin member in the DK. Their entry is banned. If so, there is no sense in levelling the charge that DK is leaning towards Brahmins.
