Reacting to our box item: “Nazis discover another stooge”, (DV Feb. 16-29, ’92 p.3), wherein we had criticised Iqbal Ansari for his fake theory on Rama in support of which he had quoted the celebrated poet Iqbal, he wrote to our Editor on 28.2.1992, that we had published the said box item with a malicious intention of damaging his reputation and that we intended to arouse the passions of Muslim masses against him and that if we did not apologise, he would go to court against us. Ansari had stated his theory on Rama in his article in the Indian Express (26.1.1992).
The Editor politely replied on 2.3.92 stating the reasons that compelled the DV to criticise him and added with candour, “when we commit a mistake we never hesitate to own it and even apologise for it”.
Legal action: Our esteemed Brother, Iqbal Ahmed Sheriff, Advocate, also wrote to Ansari separately explaining the adverse effects that might follow from his misleading theory on Rama. Ansari’s subsequent threat of 19-6-92 contains the threat of legal action against us.
Since we never make comments or criticisms without fully applying our mind, we have decided not to apologise.
First, Ansari fails to notice that the Indian Express known for its pro – Hindu nazi leanings, published his article since in the ultimate analysis it helps the upper castes/Hindus and harms Muslims and Dalits.
Secondly, the language of Ansari in the impugned article is recondite. What does he mean by “Ram as a human person and prince”? Every being with a human form is a human being. He can’t be a god. This sort of description is meant to please the upper castes and confuse the Muslims.
WHY NO RAMA TEMPLE?
Thirdly, who is Ansari to bind all Muslims in the country to his view by stating that “the learned and the laity among Muslims, all express respect for him (Rama)”?
Fourthly, in his letter to the Editor, Ansari says, “Hundreds of millions of Hindus of all castes including the Untouchables revere the name of Rama and … ” If Rama is a god, why there are hardly any Rama temples in India?
Like most UP Muslim elites, Ansari too is ignorant of the views of a large majority of Indians who are not Hindus, but wrongly counted as Hindus.
The UP Muslim elites, are the worst victims of the well-known phenomena called media distortion, the best example of which is the Indian Express. This nazi daily will publish vieu’s on Rama only if they are in confonity with the brahminical views and interests. The views of Periyar EV Ramaswamy, whose followers had won elections and ruled Tamil Nadu, had cogently criticised Rama and the Ramayana and had defiled Rama idols will never be published by the pro-Aryan Express wrongly called Indian Express.
IQBAL ON BRAHMINISM
Fifthly, the views of poet Iqbal too will not be published in that daily even if they are quoted by Ansari, however cogent and valid those views may be. For example poet Iqbal wrote about brahminism:
I tell you the truth, O Brahmin, if you do not mind Idols of your temple have all grown old. He further sings: You learnt to hate your people through idols.
He concludes with Brahminic jargons: Shakti (power) and shanti (peace) come through the songs of Bhaktas Mukti (deliverance) of the masses in love.
In his poem on Guru Nanak, he says: Ah, India is a torture chamber for the Sudras.
Ansari should know that English dailies will publish poet Iqbal’s views only if it serves the interests of upper castes: Hindus/Aryans. Again, if his views were to expose them, these dailies will condemn Iqbal too.
Sixthly, Ansari should know that in most parts of India, Islam and Muslims have influenced the local people, their food habits, life styles, manners, celebrations and festivities. Ansari has failed to give a full picture by emphasizing that Muslims have adopted local manners and indigenized themselves.
The suppressed truth: The present Indian culture is neither Hindu nor Muslim exclusively. Itis a composite culture shaped by pre-Aryan, non-Aryan original Indian ingredients, Aryan influences and Muslim contributions. This truth is suppressed by Hindu nazis and publications like the Indian Express. They present only one side of the coin, a game in which innocent persons like Ansari are taken for a ride.
MUSLIMS NOT MINORITY
Seventhly, the Hindu nazi plans and schemes against Islam and Muslims are well served by the most repeatedly dished out falsehood that Muslims are a minority in Hindu India. The Hindu nazis want Muslim writers also to emphasise this. The truth is Indian society is a segmented society where there is no majority community and every segment is a minority.
Of all these minority communities, Muslims constitute the single biggest majority. Is Ansari shocked? Gandhi’s commitment to truth was praiseworthy when he wrote “The Hindus are really not the majority community if you put the rest together. (Harijan, March 13, 1937, See also DV Sept, 1-15, 1988).
Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, Lingayats and Dalits are not Hindus but the Hindu – controlled English. “national” toilet papers will not tell this truth even if Gandhi is quoted. That is why when a Muslim sings the Aryan or Hindu nazi song, we painfully discribe such Muslims as Aryan stooges.
Eightly, there are several deities and temples to which Hindus throng in thousands daily and in lakhs on special occasions. They are Tirupati, Srisailam, Sabarimalai, Guruvayur, Kashi (Varanasi), Puri, Kali Rishikesh, Badri, Gaya etc.
BRAHMINS HATE KSHATRIYAS
There is not a single Rama temple anywhere to which the masses throng in thousands. Rama is a god worshiped only by the some upper castes and not by the poor and backward castes who form the majority. Besides, Rama is a Kshatriya and Brahmins hate Kshatriyas whom the Brahmin Parasurama had killed in thousands. That is why the Rama wave strenuously built up by Hindu nazis was destined to fail as could be seen in the recent by – elections.
Ansari took pains to dig out poet Iqbal’s poem on Rama to justify his make-believe theory on Rama that the poet’s view represents the view of all Muslims on Rama. Why the same Ansari did not take pains to find out the representative Muslim view on the presiding deities listed above to which the majority of Hindus are devoted?
Dr. Ambedkar on Rama: Ansari’s acrobatics to show that all Muslims have reverence to Rama alone, especially in the present context of Hindu nazi efforts to project Rama as the national hero, conclusively proves that he is out to placate the upper castes/Hindus and that he is even ready to earn the wrath of the majority of Hindus and particulars Dalits whose views on Rama is well represented by Dr. Ambedkara’s treatise, Riddles of Rama and Krishna (DSA 1988) which Muslim stooges of Hindu nazis would do well to study
Ninthly, in the impugned article Ansari quotes an episode from Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s life and concludes by stating that there was a “lesson” to both Muslims and Hindus. What have Muslims done to be told that they should learn “lessons”? Here, he equates the oppressor and the oppressed, the wicked and the victim. Has he got any instance where the Muslims harmed the nazis?
Beef-eating: The episode relates to Sir Syed’s appeal to Muslims to avoid cow slaughter in Bijnor town and his warning to Hindus not to create fuss by agitating for ban on cow slaughter. There is no Hindu scriptural authority to abstain from beef-eating. On the other hand, according to some texts guests should be honoured by offering them Madhuparka – a preparation of cow’s beef. Even Rama had taken cow’s meat.
Tenthly, Ansari’s fear that our comment “amounts to arousing the passions of Muslim masses” against him, is an indirect admission of the fact that a little enlightenment may turn Muslim masses against him. We have said on many occasions that the elite Muslims by their efforts to curry the favour of Hindu nazis are gradually losing the right to represent Muslim masses. All that we have done is a forewarning.
Muslim anger: If by their perverse stances, Muslim intellectuals become vulnerable to Muslim anger, how can DV be held responsible? The letters of the Editor and of Brother Iqbal Ahmed Sheriff actually contain tips to Ansari to build up reputation while Ansari has maintained that we suffer from malicious intention of damaging his reputation. Much of what is said here is known to the masses of people but the “national” toilet papers stand like a wall between truth and their readers. Dalits and DV are used to oppression at the hands of Hindus and their stooges.
Dalits workship Ravana: To condemn Rama, who symbolises male arrogance and cruelty to his own wife Sita but obedience to the cruel social order called brahminism, is our right as well as our duty if we have to be true Ambedkarities. We also condemn those who glority Rama, be they Hindus or Muslims because Rama killed our great Dravidian hero Ravana whom we worship. Dalits are emerging as the third force in India. And may soon become the first force. If Ansari takes legal action, we will have one more opportunity to vindicate our stand. Justice, truth cannot be defeated as easily as Ansari thinks.
