A few years back I had read that the Dalits from South India were fighting for their right to pull the temple car in annual rath yatra. They were fighting not for sitting on the ratha, pulled by others. They were fighting for getting harnessed to the ratha, on which the Brahmins were sitting. Then we read about the Dalits from Orissa fighting for the darshan ie. having glimpses of the Brahmin god. The Brahmins wanted the Dalits to have a darshan through a hole in the wall. and the Dalits wanted to have the glimpses without the wall. Some similar situation had been reported from Karnataka also.
RAJASTHAN YAGNA
Now a report comes from Rajasthan (Nagsen, Maroh 23, 2008 the Dalit Adhikar Kendra, Rajasthani. In Bhilwada dt. in a village Tiloli having a population of 11 different Dalit castes totaling 1,965 of 452 families out of total population of about 5,000. The Dalits are fighting for participation in a yagna the Hindus are conducting They approached the govt. The yagna organizers denied any discrimination and the authorities prevented the flare-up of tension through compromise that only the Brahmin priests will be putting the aahuti (oblation)
in the fire of yajia and none else. The Adhikar Kendra people are aggrieved that the authorities did not consider the matter as observation of untouchability and take preventive action; instead, they only took it as a law and order situation. The Dalit youth who are reportedly educated and united, seem to think they are on the correct path. They might be fooling even jubilant the understanding. But I think, they are on the wrong path.
- AMBEDKAR VERDICT
Dalits are not Hindu and wore never Hindu. Thus said our savior. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. He organized satyagraha for Mahad water tank, when he burnt the Manusmriti. When he got deceived by Gandhi and wan forced to sign the Poona Pact and was even cheated after that, he decided the Hindus would never be willing to give treatment of equality to Dalits and he decided to renounce Hinduism. And then came that famous declaration: 1 was born a Hindu, which was not in my hand; but I would not die a Hindu”.
QUIT HINDUISM CALL
Ultimately he renounced. Hinduism and adopted Budhism (1956). He then gave Budhism to half a million of followers at Nagpur and Chandrapur. Since then the way of Dalits is decided for them. And that way is the Way to the Buddha
If that is our way, why insist on having darshan of Brahmin gods or put valuable grains and ghee into fire in wasteful yajnas? That is not our culture. That is never beneficial to humanity.
The Budha renounced it originally, and then time and again. That was the fight of the Budha against the Brahmins, which ultimately brought in untouchability around the time of Adi Shankara, about thousand yours after the Budha. We worshipped the gods of Brahmins for thousands of years. That did not bring any emancipation to us. That did not bring us health, wealth, prosperity or prestige or any right to learning or even to bear arms. It was because of this, we had to submit to the atrocities of the Brahminic law books; that is how we were reduced to dust.
No Brahmin god came down to earth to wipe our tears. With a great effort by Dr. Babasaheb, we have now learned how to come out of the mud of Brahmanism. So why we are again going back to Brahminism? Let us fight. for human rights. Surel Let maintain our
organization and unity. But take care that we do not go towards Brahmin and their gods and yagnas.
