Bangalore : A five – member Dalit team of Tamte (drum) players left here to Japan on Sept. 19 to participate in the International cultural festival held at Fukuoko there. The team led by Venkatswamy, President of the Karnataka Samata Sainik Dal, was seen off at the Airport by V.T. Rajshekar, Editor of Dalit Voice. Tamte is the chief musical instrument of Dalits in this part of the State. The Japanese invitation marks a big jump in the Dalit – Japanese relationship.
