Bangalore: a country of cow-worshippers, already a laughing stock of the world, have another big news: Cow urine is medicine.
Lucknow: The Uttarkhand Govt. will now buy and sell 5,000 litres of cow urine everyday. It will purchase cow urine from cattle owners and then sell it to Ayurvvidya pharmacies to manufacture Ayurvidya medicines. The govt, plans to create a market where cattle owners can interact directly with buyers. State Minister for Animal Husbandry Trivendra Rawat said: “We have an order for 5,000 litres of cow urine per day from Patanjali Yogpeeth Pharmacy of Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev and others. We plan to buy cow urine through milk cooperatives at Rs. 5 per litre.” The programme was launched in Kalsi, in Chakrata tehsil of Dehradun, earlier this month. About 1,900 active milk cooperatives will be engaged to collect cow urine for sale to Ayurvidya. The urine of 26 species of cows, named Badri, has a richer herbal residue content compared to that of cows found in the plains.
