Meanwhile countering the anti-Brahmin propaganda heaped on her by the DMK, the Tamil Nadu chief minister, Ms. Jayalalitha, declared that the anti- Brahmin campaign against her would fail the same way the anti-Tamil charge against MGR had floundered.
She countered the DMK’s propaganda. “They called me apathic (a crude reference to a Brahmin woman) but the people of Tamil Nadu voted overwhelmingly for my leadership. Similarly, they had dubbed MGR as a Malayalee, but the DMK could never dislodge him from power till his death”, she thundered.
