Chandrabhan Prasad is totally wrong in saying that the BCs are the enemy of Dalits. The BCs are good friends of the Dalits. Only the Brahmins are the real enemy. Dr. Ambedkar is the product of the struggle of many BC leaders like Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj, Periyar E.V. Ramaswami etc.
I am a Chamar Govt. employee from Eastern UP. I am impressed by the “caste identity” thesis of our Editor. Chamar is the single largest Dalit group, almost one-third of the total SC population in UP. Chamars are in Northern India. Southern Chamars goes by the name of Madiga. Kanshi Ram and Sister Mayawati are also Chamars.
