Lucknow: Six persons, three women, two children and one man, were killed on Sept 22 in a caste war in Gaddi Dhatpura village under Raja Rampur police station in Etah district, when the village Rajputs and Dhobis (washermen) fought a bloody battle.
A local Rajput of the village took to task some Dhobis for not removing the garbage from the village by lane. The wordy duel soon developed into a full scale bloody violence with the Rajput, Thakur Harinath Singh, shooting one of the Dhobis from his gun. The victim died on the spot causing tension among other members of the same caste to launch a counter attack on the house of the Rajputs.
Soon a large number of Dhobis stormed the house of the Thakur and set it ablaze following which three women and two children who were inside the house were roasted alive. (Hindustan Times Sept. – 24).
