The growth-based Indian upper caste economy is preparing to create a new super rich technocratic nation state. B. Jalan (former Reserve Bank Governor) says that 20 super rich Indian property-holders’ assets are equal to 30 crore peoples assets of Indian society This kind of super rich can’t be seen anywhere in the world. Such a growth is happening in such a short period
DR. AMBEDKAR AGENDA IS DEAD
The Brahmin representation in the Indian Govt. is much higher in 1990s when compared with 1930s. A strong national economy combined with a nuclear state demands to challenge any pro-affirmative action in Indian society. Social justice agenda created by the Indian great thinkers like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is in serious crisis This is happening in the period of Indian subaltern assertion
A new kind of social justice agenda is needed rather than clicking old reservation agenda which is being neglected. While strongly defending to implement the so called reservation agenda, new social justice measures need to be implemented.
NO QUOTA IN IIT-IIM
Look at these “national importance” institutes in addition to IITs and IIMs, Aligarh Muslim University, BHU; Visvabaharati and 19 NITS, etc. The mainstream discussions are like this-whether it is positive discrimination or not? Is it affirmative action? We have built up a powerful corporate-political and academic complex in India hey have set an agenda for anti-reservation.
On Dec23, 2008, between 2 to 3 pm, 18 bills have been passed in the Rajya Sabha The Scheduled Castes and Schedule Tribes (reservations in posts and services) Bill 2008 is one of them
After hearing the name of this Bill, we may think they brought this to provide reservation to the SC/STS But the reality is that this Bill is totally against the policy of reservation and against the spirit of the constitution. According to the Section (1) 4 of the above said bill is providing exemption to follow the reservation system in all the IITs and IIMs in the country
BILL PASSED IN 3 MINUTES
There are 47 institutions, as all the IITs and IIMs are institutes of “national importance”. Why only IITs and IIMs are institutes of “national importance”? It means the other educational institutes in the country are not important for the nation. The govt. may declare any department or sector as national importance and exempt them from reservation policy.
If we allow the above bill to become an Act, it will spoil the entire system of reservation. The wonder is that this Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha within 3 minutes.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar introduced reservation policy with his 40 years struggle of life and death, but our Rajya Sabha has passed a Bill against the reservation in 3 minutes What our Dalit Rajya Sabha members were doing while
passing this Bill which is against the very spirit of the constitution and against the orders No. 6-30/2005 of the Human Resource Development Department? As per this orders, all the universities, which are getting grants from UGC, are bound to follow the reservation policy in the recruitment of lecturers and professors and readers.
NO DALITS IN SELECTION BOARD
The same orders were also sent to all the IIMs and IITs in June 2008. *Here they reserved only jobs but there is no exemption on the merit and intelligence of the candidates and they brought a Bill in December 2008, it is crystal clear whose interests were there. Now they are going to introduce this Bill in the Lok Sabha.
There are a total 2,300 teaching posts in the BHU, at least 500 teaching posts in the every IIT and IIM, so the total number of teaching posts will be 23,500. Out of this, the SC/ST candidates have to get at least 5,287 teaching posts in the IITs and IIMs. Just think for a minute are there Dalits in the IITs and IIMs up to this number. It is necessary to remember that there are no SC/ST people in the executive boards of IITs and IIMS and teachers selection committees.
SC/ST/ CANDIDATES TORTURED
All upper caste selection board members are torturing SC/ST candidates. The history is the evidence of this, and it is very difficult to get approval of a PhD for a Dalit scholar from an upper caste professor.
Dalits have to depend on the upper castes every where to get benefits of the scholarships and other schemes. While such horrible things are going on they should bring a law to support the Dalits. Instead of that they are trying to keep away SC/ST from IITs and IIMs. If this Bill is also passed in the Lok Sabha, the entire Dalit community’s future will become dark.
MERIT-MONGERING
While “merit” and “national importance” are coming back again with much political interest in Indian society, the Prime Minister spoke in Guwahati IIT about the concern of IIT directors. What they are pin-pointing is the importance of “merit” in these institutions and “we can’t compromise with national interests”. Really, most of the students passing out from these so-called national institutes don’t like to stay in India. Many of them are settled in western countries.
A study of media study group (Delhi) reveals that the total students passed out in AIIMS during 1956-1997 were 2,129. Over 780 students went abroad to enjoy the comforts of Western countries. In 2002-2003, the budgetary allocation was Rs. 564 crores to IITs, the allocation to primary education was just 3,577 crores.
The Indian institutes of national importance are existing at the after total rejection of primary education. Indian elites coming from these institutes are the most Western addicted and they have no interests in Indian realities. They didn’t think about what is the social base of their privilege. Look at the reality of Indian reservation in Indian higher education.
POLICY SUITS BRAHMINICAL INTEREST
SC/ST Professors at BHU-1/360, Aligarh-0/233, Delhi University-3/332, Jamia-0/80 (According to Report of National Commission on SCs and STs – 1999-2000). Even now, the story is not much different.
It is a well known fact that historically Brahmins never held a sword and defeated a king/dynasty and acquired property. Then, how did they earn such an un-believable property in comparison with the rest of the society, who have been doing only pujas and archanas in temples and marriages in the society for their livelihood?
LOOTING INDIA
It is a live example for how they have been looting the country by dividing the society for sake of their personal benefits in the name of national importance and national security? To be frank, even if a war is posed by any enemy, they never come and participate in it by holding a gun or some thing else. Then, what for they talk about national security and all. It is very clear that they are diverting the rest of the society’s eyes and looting the country by taking all the important positions of policy making. They are making policies suitable just for their growth.
