Bangalore:
The Karnataka Dalit Action Committee staged a dharna and black-flag demonstration before the High Court here on Oct. 20 to press their demands and protest against the “injustices being done to the Dalits by the High Court.”
A delegation led by its convener D. M. Thimmarayappa, submitted an 18 point memorandum to the Chief Justice. The demands included the appointment of a scheduled caste judge as the Chief Justice and four more scheduled caste and tribe judges to the High Court.
The committee decided to suspend its agitation on the assurance and encouraging response from the Chief Justice, the committee stated in a press release. (Decan Herald, Oct. 21). This is the second black flag agitation against the High Court.
