The first conference of ‘Bangla Dalit Sahitya Sanstha’ was held in a remote village, Bhayana, West Bengal, about 80 km away from the Brahminical hers. Calcutta, on Dec.5-6 1992.
Besides many Dalit writers and poets, a good number of Dalit dignitaries also attended the function. A Buddhist monk inaugurated the conference garlanding the portrait of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
A presidium comprising Ambedkarite condemned the Brahminical culture and literature and asked Dalits to abandon Brahminical customs from their thoughts and habits and called upon Dalit writers and poets to promote Ambedkar’s in their writings and create Dalit literature and culture in ifs truest sense of terms.
Every speaker criticized the rhetorical cattle teed literature which had no purpose hui payline the whole society and enslave the Dalit. Only a cultural revolution could liberate the Dalits.

The Parinirvana Divas of Babasaheb (Dec.5) was observed in a revolutionary way. All rituals were performed by a Buddhist monk from Calcutta. In the morning, a procession of thousands of Dalits went round the village with thunderous slogans like “Hindu Dharam choro’, “Ved Bham in Juror Ghori “Babasaheb ka path Dhari” etc.
In the second session Dr. Santosh Sarkar, Vice-chancellor of Kayani University and a noted Ambedkarite, spoke on Buddhism. The audience was moved by his speech
Prof. Jagat Bandhu Biswas, S.R. Talukdar and Swapan Biswas played a karate
Prizes were awarded toes verse Dalit writers posies and thinkers in the name of Babasaheb Dr. BE RB. Ambedkar, Mahatma Jyoti Hac Phule, Jenab Ak Fasil Hag, Birsa, Munda, Raj Kishore iterate, Chuni kotwal, Vega Haider, Guru Chang Thakur Jogendra Nath Mandal, Thakur Perikhanian Barman and Pandit Raghunath Murmu for their outstanding services to the cause of Dalits.
Prof. Achintya Biswas was elected new President of the Sanstha.
