Bangalore: In the past 45 years after independence, the oppressed masses of India comprising Scheduled Castes, Tribes, Backward Castes and minorities, forming over 85% of India’s population, have seen good lot of “political” changes. The Congress Party was defeated twice and the Opposition parties ruled from Delhi. In States like W. Bengal, Kerala etc. Marxists came to power. In UP, MP etc. BJP ruled. Karnataka saw Janata Dal which is ruling Orissa today. The Khamma leader captured AP once.
But all these are mere “political” changes that brought no change in the social and economic fields for which the oppressed masses have been waiting. The oppressed continue to be oppressed in all the States whether under the Congress, the Marxist, the BJP or the JD, or any other party.
Wanted social change: Coming to W. Bengal, it was ruled by the Congress, the “marxists” took over from them. That means there was only a “political change” with no change in the socio-economic sphere. This is because three upper castes of W. Bengal – Brahmins, Baidyas and Kayasths – controlled the State when the Congress was in power 15 years ago and they continue to do so even today under Jyoti Basu.
There is hardly any representation to SC/ST/BCs and Muslims either in the “marxist party” or the govt. under Jyoti Basu.
What is now happening in Bengal is that the oppressed masses are losing all patience and trying to revolt. And scenting the mood of the angry but innocent masses the very same three exploiting Bhadralok Jati’s are trying to divert their anger against the CPM.
Frying pan into fire: The masses are angry only with the exploiting upper castes. But the representatives of these three communities knew the danger of putting all their legs in one basket and got them- selves cunningly divided into CPM and Congress etc. to deceive the masses once again via Miss Mamata Banerji. That means, if ever Miss Bannerji is to succeed, it is a jump from frying pan into fire for the oppressed Bengali masses. Since every political party is led by the upper castes and of the many varieties for democracy, we have opted for “parliamentary democracy” based on political party system, such a continuous betrayal of the confidence of the oppressed masses by all the political parties may put our very system under jeopardy and may lead to an explosive situation. West Ben- gal is the standing example to the failure of parliamentary democracy. which is based on mutual faith.
