New Delhi: The second phase of the Ganga Action Plan (GAP), which involves the cleaning up of three tributaries of the Ganges – the Yamuna, Gomti and the Damodar – over the next five years will be completely foreign funded.
A high-level meeting of the Central Ganga Authority (CGA), presided over by the Prime Minister has allotted Rs. 650 crore for the project. Of this amount, Rs. 401 crore will be provided by Japan as a soft loan and the remaining Rs. 149 crore by the Dutch, British and World Bank. (Indian Express Sept. 21)
