New Delhi: The Indian Publication Limited which brought out the weekly tabloid, One Nation Chronicle; has now floated a new fortnightly, Nation and the World. The whole project was originally conceived for launching of a daily newspaper meant to set right the media distortion about minorities and other weaker sections. Earlier it experimented with a weekly tabloid which ran for nearly four months. It then turned itself into a glossy magazine, just for a single issue.
The latest pre-inaugural issue of the Nation and the World is dated June 16. Saiyid Hamid is the editor while M. Zeyaul Haque is the editorial consultant. Yunus Dehlvi from the family of Publishers of Urdu film monthly Shama, the publisher. He has no experience in serious English or Urdu journalism and will best be a manager.
A few prominent Muslims from North India and Muslim businessmen from the South had set up the Indian Publication Limited some three years ago. Maulana Ali Mian is the Patron of the Project while his close confidante, Dr. Ishtiyaq Quraishi of Lucknow, and Saiyid Hamid were entrusted with the responsibility to bring out the magazine.
The new journal has not made any mention of the aborted Chronicle which folded itself up in controversial circumstances. Islamic Voice July, 1991
